Good Reasons To Get Started With Improving Your Fitness

Don’t Wait For Something Major To Go Wrong

It may take a major illness, event or injury to get you started exercising regularly and if that occurs it is likely to leave you with some form of scar, disability or dysfunction.

That scar may could just be a mark on your skin but it could also be the fact that a stroke has caused loss of function on one side of your body, that you have lost 6-12 months of your life in rehab from open heart surgery, or simply the fact you are not able to work at the same level you did previously.

This may sound harsh but unfortunately statistics suggest that people as young as 30 are headed for this reality as they build the habit of not exercising into their lives.

The good news is that it is a reality that can be prevented or the risks minimised.  In the process of prevention you will discover just how much more energy and vitality you can have in your life. You may well discover that the aches and pains you thought were due to old age were in fact due to inaction.

I don't know about you but I hate someone saying, "I told you so," and now that you've read this page, well I've told.... I'm sure you don't need to hear the rest.  So take a simple step and pick up the phone and go beyond survival and take the first step in excelling at life.

What is a year of good life worth?

If you had to think ahead to the end of your life, what would another good year of life would be worth to you?  We're not talking a year of life where you are spoon-fed mush while you lie in bed - a true year of good active life.  My guess would be for most people it would range from a small fortune up to priceless.

Now when you get to the mush eating stage there is not much you can do to turn things around. It won't matter how much money you have, the price will be too much for your body to pay. However, if you have time on your side there are amazing changes you can make to your fitness with only the price of a small regular commitment.

Building The Capability To Enjoy Life

Having true fitness is about having the capabilities to enjoy life. If you follow a well balance program you will not only live longer but you will live better.

Your body starts to lose the capabilities for an active life in your 20's and early 30's.  The amount of muscle you have (lean body mass or muscle mass) begins to decline at that time & contributes to loss of strength and eventually loss of quality of life.

Therefore, if you want to maintain your independence as you get older you have to start as early as you can. If you consider it worthwhile to invest in superannuation, maybe it is also time to invest in your fitness.

If you are keen to get started, send us through an e-mail or call us on 1300 132 116.  Granted it is a regular investment you have to make, but what would that one good year be worth to you?

The longer you wait, the harder it is

Whether you are active or not, you are in training. Training is simply the process of giving your body a stimulus that it will adapt to. If you are not active, you are stimulating your body to become slow and weak and it will respond by wasting away your strength muscles as it considers them redundant.

The longer you perform your non-active training routine, the more you strengthen the habits of doing nothing. As you practice the habits of not taking care of yourself, the more ingrained that habit becomes and the longer it stays, the more muscle mass you lose.

The significance is that as you lose muscle mass you lose energy burning tissue from your body. The result is that because you don't have same capability to perform as high an intensity level of exercise, you can end up eating the same amount of calories but putting on weight.

If have been practising the habit of inaction for some time now and you want to break it, the support of someone to guide you can assist. Get a good personal trainer, get some good advice and start building the habit of training to increase your capabilities, not wasting them away, and you will find life and exercise will be that much easier.
